I arrived into Cap Haitien, Haiti on Monday morning, August 11. Pastor Bazile met me at the airport and we spent the day making preparations for two Leadership Training Conferences (LTCs) and next week’s community evangelistic outreach.
8 hours by bus from Cap Haitien, Haiti to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic |
Tuesday morning we boarded a coach bus in Cap Haitien for a trip to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I was told it was a 5 hour trip - we arrived into Santo Domingo 8 hours later. We lost time crossing the border at Ouanaminthe. We had get off the bus on each side of the border for Immigration and customs. We then stopped in Santiago so passengers could get off and others got on.
Dr. Don, Pastors Bazile & Dumerve, Santo Domingo, D.R. |
Pastor Acegene Dumerve is the host leader for the LTC. Pastor Dumerve is a Haitian minister who pastors churches in both Jeremie, Haiti and Santo Domingo. There is a large Haitian population in the D.R. and God has called Pastor Dumerve to serve them.

The worship center is located in the northwest area of Santo Domingo called Guaricano. As many of the churches Truth Connect serves, it is humble in appearance but mighty in the work of the LORD. The were 43 leaders in attendance on first night of the LTC. God is doing an amazing work in Santo Domingo and Pastor Dumerve and his wife Georgette are at the tip of the spear.

I took a walk around old town Santo Domingo. There are many interesting and historical things to see. But this graffiti / wall art caught my eye.
