India LTC - sharing ideas, connecting with Truth

Truth Connect's India Leadership Training Conference (LTC) was time to share ideas and connect with Truth.  Rehoboth Baptist Church, Hyderabad hosted the three day conference that 127 church leaders attended.

India LTC participants came from the city, villages and the country.

Each conference participant was registered - Pastor Moses (left) checks the register.

Each LTC participant received a notepad and pen given by generous donors.

Dr. Don teaches and Pastor Moses interprets to Telugu.

I taught three, 90 minute sessions daily for the three days of the LTC.  The theme of conference was "The Church that Christ Builds" taken from Matthew 16:13-20.  We were all encouraged by the words of Jesus where he declared with authority, "…I will build My church…."  We studied together the seven characteristics of the church that Christ builds.

These ladies filled one of the side rooms to participate in the LTC.

Karen teaches a session on the value of the Christian home.

Karen is so valuable to me and Truth Connect.  She taught on the value of the Christian home and was well received.  Karen's experience as a godly Christian woman, wife of 40 years, mother of 2 and grandmother of 3 enabled her to speak with wisdom, grace and authority.

Karen encourages participants to examine what the Bible says.

One beauty of Christ's family is its cultural diversity and practices.  Whether I am in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean or India, I experience new and interesting cultural practices.  Leaving one's shoes at the entrance door is not so uncommon.  But one cultural practice that did take time to get used to was the moving of the head back and forth.  In the USA it would mean "no" or "I don't agree."  But in India, one moves their head back and forth to indicate "yes" or "I agree."  This threw me off the first few times someone said, "Yes" but shook their head in a way I thought they meant "No." The Indian people are so beautiful and beloved of God.  What a privilege to serve them in Christ name!

One cultural practice is to leave one's shoes outside.
