Christianity's Uniqueness - Love

One word separates the Christian faith from all others - love.

Why is this?  The Bible says that "God is love" (1 Jn. 4:16).  Therefore, it makes sense that God's followers would be people who love.  God has demonstrated His love in many ways but the most dramatic illustration of it is Jesus Christ.  One of the best known Bible verses is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."  The word "love" in the original language is "agape."  One of the best definitions of agape love that I have ever heard is to choose to do what is best for the one loved.

Plug that definition in John 3:16.  "For God so loved the world [that He chose to do what was best for lost sinners that] He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

1 John 3:23 declares, "This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us."

Christianity is unique because God is unique.  God's Son, Jesus Christ, showed us the love of the Father by His life, death and resurrection.  Those who follow Jesus Christ by faith are to be unique too. Jesus said, "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35).  God's love is the unique feature of Christianity that separates it from all other faiths.
