27 Bullets Could Not Stop This Pastor

Pastor Patrick Omwanza
Pastor Patrick Omwanza  was a national church leader in Uganda  during the 1970s when President Idi Amin put out a contract on his life.  Soldiers hunted him down, machine gunned him and left him for dead along side the road.  A “good samaritan” found him and took him to a local hospital.  Doctors believed he could not survive after x-rays revealed 27 bullets in his body.  Pastor Patrick requested to go home to his family.  Just a few days after his shooting, his wife was bathing him when something began to ooze out of his body.  In fear she ran for help.  Other family members attended to Patrick while his body “oozed” - when he was removed from the tub, 17 bullets were found at the bottom of the tub.  The amazed family bandaged and cared for him.  Word spread fast and within days another contract was issued - this time Amin wanted Patrick’s head on a pike.  Friends came and transported this Kenyan Pastor to the Kenyan border and to safety within his own country.

Pastor Patrick participated in Truth Connect's Kenya LTC.

Pastor Patrick is now 83 years old and enjoying his walk with Jesus.  He has faithfully served as a minister of the Lord for over 50 years!   Pastor Patrick was hunted down and shot.  But like Daniel in the lion’s den, he was safe in God’s sovereign protection. Twenty seven bullets could not stop this pastor!

On My Way To Kenya

I leave for Kenya tomorrow (10/16).  Truth Connect will conduct a Leadership Training Conference (LTC) in Eldoret, a city in western Kenya.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of our friends there.  Bishop Chris and Word of Life Harvest Church will host next week's LTC.

Word of Life Harvest Church, Eldoret, Kenya will host Truth Connect LTC.

Bishop Chris has planted over 60 churches in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.  This conference will be a reunion of pastors as well as a time of encouragement, training, visioning, prayer and worship.  Bishop Chris is expecting well over 200 church leaders to attend the LTC from October 23 - 27.

Dr. Don and Bishop Chris.

I am going in a few days ahead of five other missionaries who will help facilitate the conference.  I'll spend a couple of days in Nairobi before flying to Eldoret on Saturday.  The mission team will arrive in Edoret on Tuesday evening and the LTC begins the very next day.

Thanks for remembering us in your prayers.  I'll keep you posted on the trip.  Grace & Peace in Him!
